Blog Tracker And Learner Response

  1) My blogger is fully up to date:) 2)   I need to work on physiographic and reception theory. I MUST revise this topic in order for me to be in a good place as the year progresses past.   3) First move:  I will be 100% be making more flashcards than i have usually been doing. I will be making flashcards about all different topics that we have learnt so far this year. But my main focus for now will be revising physiographic and reception theory, because this is my weakness so far.  Second move:  In class I will be borrowing some more flashcards, and I will be asking more questions if i am confused. Third move:  I will be concentrating more in classes now, and I will be putting more effort towards lessons.

Media Effects Theory

  1) Write a definition of a   passive  audience:  An audience that accepts a message in a media text without a challenge. 2)  Write a definition of an  active  audience:  An audience that are highly alerted, E.G. interrupting/ responding/ engaging. 3) Write a definition of the  hypodermic needle  theory:  This suggests that audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producers if it was injected into there minds. 4) Write down a  media product  (e.g. TV show, newspaper or videogame)   for each category of Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and  WHY  it fits that particular audience use/gratification. The first one is done for you:  INFORMATION/SURVEILLANCE:  Media text - The Times newspaper  > Why: It tells audiences important information about politics, the world and more. PERSONAL IDENTITY: TV adverts.- Bank  > Why:  Tells aud...

Reception Theory

Task1  I think he does not give a positive view of young people because in their video, there is all sorts of bad things happening, E.G. stealing, robbing, threatening, and thief's. Also when they shoe the newspaper of it talking about death and evilness.  Task2 1 . The media text tells us that the film has a lot of violence and illegal stuff involved. 2 .  The oppositional reading goes against the meaning the producers are trying to create. 3 . This tells the audience that teenagers are getting more involved in gangs or mafia's. They also are getting involved in drugs. 4 .   Young people may reject this reading and construct a oppositional reading because not all young people are like that and it makes them look bad. Task 3 1)   The producers intended to communicate that the burger is bigger than most by calling it the "Big Mac" .The 100% beef is a code saying that this burger has nothing in the beef that is making the patty bigger. This Stereo type was displa...
