Comparison: Doctor Who - An Unearthly Child and His Dark Materials - The City of Magpies

1) How are the technical conventions different between 1963 Doctor Who and 2020 His Dark Materials (e.g. camerawork, editing, sound and mise-en-scene)?

These are different because in 1963, Doctor Who episodes are in black and white which means that this was created a long time ago. We see in His Dark Materials the actual colour and sound is more updated. The camerawork in 2020 we can see the scene clearly. On the other hand, 1963, there were quite lot's of fuzzy bits there and then.





2) What similarities and differences are there between Doctor Who and His Dark Materials in terms of genre and narrative?

They both share a genre blending fantasy and adventure elements of science fiction, but their narrative diverge is in tone and focus.
